Charges
As with any commodity, service or purchase, you pay for
what you get. Alan is a solicitor with over 20 years of
legal experience.
Alan’s charges are set at an agreed amount (for a simple
one-off matter such as a Will) or at an agreed hourly rate
(for more difficult matters) but, in both cases, from the start
of your matter which provides you with certainty about the charges and the knowledge
you can still expect a quality legal service.
If the charge is an agreed hourly rate this rate will be applied by Alan when he sees you
in his office and when he speaks with you on the telephone: the hourly rate will be
applied to all telephone conversations with any other party involved in your legal problem.
Subject to the length of your letters or letters from any one else involved in your legal
problem, a routine short letter (taking not more than 3 minutes of reading) is charged at
5% of the agreed hourly rate.
Subject to length, routine letters that Alan writes to you or any other party involved,
which takes no more than 6 minutes to prepare, are charged at 10% of the agreed hourly
rate.
The agreed hourly rate will be applied to non-routine letters sent to you or others or
received from you or others simply because such letters are normally long; a two page
letter of advice, for example.
Legal matters which are complex and urgent or which require a lot of work or specialist
knowledge or advice will justify a higher hourly rate.
If you retain Alan his firm’s terms of business letter will fully explain how Alan will charge
you for his legal service.
Please ask Alan for any further details.
